Shirodhara
75 min | $140. BOOK ONLINE
Shirodhara comes from the Sanskrit words “shir” (head) and “dhara” (pouring), referring to the steady stream of warm oil poured across the forehead. The continuous flow of oil creates subtle pressure and vibrations over the "third eye" chakra to calm the mind, restore sleep, and stimulate brain function. It’s a uniquely transformative experience that relaxes the nervous system and promotes mental clarity.
The session includes:
Hair brushing
A steady stream of warm oil flowing over the forehead
Herbalized oil that promotes healthy hair, relaxation, and better sleep
Scalp massage
Preparation:
Dress in comfortable clothing that you don’t mind if oil gets on it
Your hair will be oiled so you may want to bring a hat or head cover
Contraindications:
Recent neck injury or inability to lay head back
Brain tumors or skin irritations on the head
Fever, nausea, dizziness or fainting
Abhyanga
75 min | $100. BOOK ONLINE
Abhyanga translates to "oil rubbing," a ritual that combines rhythmic, choreographed movements with warm, herbalized oils to deeply nourish the body-mind connection. This ancient Ayurvedic therapy embodies snehana, or "maternal love," infusing the ritual with a sense of care and nurturing.
Oils used are, sesame oil (rich in antioxidants), sunflower oil (light, cooling), or Mahanarayan Oil (known for soothing muscles and joints).
This practice of anointing with oil nourishes the joints, enhances skin health, and calms the nervous system, fostering a sense of heightened awareness and activating your body's natural healing mechanisms.
“Oil to the body is like love to the soul”
-Ayurvedic Proverb
Swedana
20 min | $20. BOOK ONLINE
Swedana, a soothing herbal steam therapy, is used to open pores and promote perspiration. Steam infused with essential oils such as lavender, rosemary, and lemongrass detoxifies the body, relaxes muscles, and enhances the treatment's effects. This combination is ideal for relieving stiffness, promoting circulation, and creating a sense of lightness and clarity.
During your steam session you also receive a sound bath meditation. Let the vibrations from the instruments amplify your detoxing.
Dough Basti + Marma Point Therapy
60 Min | $85. BOOK ONLINE
Sometimes the body doesn't need more pressure—it needs more nourishment.
Dough Basti is one of Ayurveda's most therapeutic localized treatments, designed to deliver warm, herb-infused oil directly to an area of discomfort. A handcrafted dough reservoir is gently placed over a specific region of the body and filled with warm herbal oil, allowing the tissues, joints, fascia, and nervous system to absorb its healing properties over an extended period of time.
To deepen the therapeutic experience, every Dough Basti treatment at Sage Healing Collective includes Marma Point Therapy. These gentle therapeutic holds stimulate the body's vital energy points (marma points), helping restore the flow of prana (life force energy), release deeply held tension, and encourage both physical and emotional healing.
The combination of sustained herbal warmth and intentional energy work creates a treatment that is deeply calming, restorative, and uniquely Ayurvedic.
What to Expect
Your practitioner begins by creating a custom dough reservoir using chickpea flour and water. The dough is carefully shaped and placed over the treatment area to create a leak-proof basin.
The basin is then filled with warm Mahanarayan Oil, a traditional Ayurvedic herbal oil renowned for supporting muscles, joints, fascia, and the nervous system. Throughout the treatment, the oil is replenished to maintain a soothing therapeutic temperature while Marma Point Therapy is incorporated to complement the selected treatment area.
For Netra (Eye) Basti, warm clarified butter (ghee) is used instead of herbal oil to nourish and soothe the delicate tissues surrounding the eyes.
This gentle, nurturing treatment is balancing for all doshas and is especially supportive for excess Vata, helping calm the nervous system while relieving localized pain and stiffness.
